• September 27, 2007 :
• A groundbreaking ceremony was held at the WVU Erickson Alumni Center to commence the Burroughs Run/Poponoe Run Stormwater Project. (Click to view photos and press coverage of the event)

• September 4, 2007 :
• Notice to Proceed issued to Laurita Excavating, effective September 5, 2007.

• August 14, 2007 :
  • $8.5 million loan closing was successfully achieved, to finance the project through the WV DEP SRF Loan Program. (Click to view the DEP press release 09/14/2007)
  • Notice of Award issued to Laurita Excavating, including Change Order No. 1, which lowers the contract amount to $6,227,644.00, and provides that the owner will supply materials worth $1,625,156.00.

• May 8, 2007:
• The bid process for the Borroughs Run/Popone Run Stormwater Project was finalized Thursday, May 10, 2007.  Laurita Excavating was the low bidder at $8,552,759.86.  The estimated bid for this project was $6 million.  This leaves a potential cost overrun of approximately $2.6 million.
• We have begun negotiations with Laurita to reduce the bid and we will explore every possibility in an effort to rebalance the project budget.  We are committed to begin the project this summer without raising the rates recently approved by City Council which are scheduled to go into effect in October 2008.

• May 1, 2007:
  • Bid opening date has changed from May 1, 2007 to May 8, 2007.
