Why am I required to be at the residence for a meter to be set?

This is for the customer’s protection. When our service person sets a meter, they allow only 10 gallons of water to flow through the meter. A potential problem could occur if more than 10 gallons flow through the meter – faucets left on, broken pipes, toilet leaking, etc.
